CAREERS

SENIOR PR CONSULTANT (CONTRACT)

PhillComm Global is a fully remote PR and communications firm working with ambitious companies shaping emerging industries. We specialize in earned media, executive thought leadership and communications that help define new categories for companies with real news to tell and consequential ideas to advance.

We’re looking for an experienced PR consultant to join our team for approximately 20–35 hours per week, working primarily Eastern Time hours Monday through Friday. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who knows how to find the story, sharpen the angle, get the right reporter interested and turn strong client work into meaningful results.

Media relations is at the center of the job. You’ll pitch national business, technology and trade media; develop smart, timely story angles; write and edit pitches, press releases, op-eds and other client materials; and work directly with a small roster of highly engaged clients.

We’re looking for someone with at least four years of agency PR experience, ideally working across technology, B2B or other emerging industries. You should be an excellent writer, a proven media relations practitioner and someone who understands that great PR requires judgment, persistence, curiosity and the ability to move quickly when the news cycle creates an opening.

PhillComm is a fast-moving, high-expectation environment without big-agency bureaucracy. We care about the quality of the work, the strength of the ideas and the results we deliver, while also placing enormous value on being thoughtful, collaborative and genuinely good people to work with.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own and execute media relations across national business, technology and trade outlets, from developing angles and pitches through placement and reporting

  • Build relationships with reporters, editors, producers, podcast hosts, analysts and other influential voices

  • Identify breaking-news opportunities and quickly develop credible ways for clients to enter important conversations

  • Write and edit high-quality pitches, press releases, op-eds, executive commentary, briefing materials and other client content

  • Contribute to client strategy and turn company developments, data, executive expertise and industry shifts into compelling stories

  • Develop fluency in complex and fast-moving industries and explain them clearly to media and broader audiences

  • Communicate directly and professionally with clients, reporters and the PhillComm team

  • Conduct research necessary to strengthen pitches, narratives and written materials

  • Manage multiple fast-moving accounts and priorities while consistently meeting deadlines

  • Prepare clients for interviews and participate in interviews when useful

  • Contribute to reporting, media lists, press materials and new-business work as needed

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

  • At least four years of PR agency experience, preferably focused on technology, B2B or emerging industries

  • A strong track record of earned-media results and a clear understanding of what makes reporters respond

  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with the ability to make complicated subjects clear, interesting and credible

  • Strong news judgment and genuine interest in technology, markets, business, global change and the ideas shaping new industries

  • Someone who follows the news closely, reads widely and naturally sees connections between client stories and the larger conversation

  • The confidence to independently develop angles, pitch reporters and move opportunities forward without being handed a script

  • Comfortable working independently, taking ownership and making good decisions without excessive process or supervision

  • Able to move quickly, manage competing priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work

  • Familiarity with tools such as Slack, Google Workspace, Muck Rack, Telegram, WhatsApp and other modern communications platforms

  • Thoughtful, positive, low-ego and genuinely enjoyable to work with
